On the reverse (back side), the banknote includes the dominations at four corners (by number), the dominations (by word), the text “Hình phạt khổ-sai những kẻ giả mạo giấy bạc do Ngân-hàng Quốc-gia Việt-Nam phát ra” (translation: "criminal law sentences to penal labor for counterfeiting paper money issued by the National Bank of Vietnam"). And the main iconography in this part are several fishing boats on a river/beach.
The banknote is the replacement for the 200 dong banknote of 1955. The replacement is the reverse message toward the North Vietnam which was in financial difficulties and chaos after a comprehensive monetary change in 1951 and 1958. The Indochina bank represents the wealth and richness of South Vietnam. The cars in front of the bank show that there was bustle transaction inside the bank. Therefore, the figure in the banknote demonstrates a stable and wealthy economy in South Vietnam.
