Title
Style and Inspiration of Saigon City Hall
Description
The architecture of Saigon City Hall is largely influenced by the Baroque style with a touch of Beaux-Arts influences. These two architectural styles were popular in France during the 17th and late 19th century, respectively.
Several characteristics of the Beaux-Arts style can be seen in the site: formal symmetry, an elevated first floor, a series of arched front doors, and elaborate interior design.
As compared to its counterpart the Paris Hotel de Ville (City Hall) in France, the building bears several similarities in both the structure and details. The bell tower in the middle and decorative patterns along the roof of two symmetrical buildings are the most closely resemblance to the Paris City Hall.
