The original statue of Our Lady of Peace

Dublin Core

Title

The original statue of Our Lady of Peace

Description

The original statue called "Virgin of Joyeuse" was a gift from Jean de Joyeuse to his bride Françoise e Voisins. It was initially a cherished family heirloom until Henri Joyeuse (Jean’s grandson) brought it to the Capuchin Franciscans in Paris.
After being hidden from the rebels during the French revolution and during the country's independence war in the 1800s, the Virgin became a model of peace among warring factions.
Until 1906, the Archbishop of Paris ceremonially crowned the original statue of Our Lady of Peace in France.
