Decolonization

Decolonization is a process of dismantling, or getting of, colonialism and colonial legacies by the colony. After the rule of colonial power is ended, the colony gains back independence and power over their land. The first stage of decolonization, following the proposed "Five Stages of Decolonization", is said to be "rediscovery and recovery" in which the colonized forces seek to reclaim power and autonomy over its region.
