Title
Elisabeth Günther
Description
I am Dr Elisabeth Günther, one of the two course instructors of "Augustus in Saigon!?".
Since 2021, I am assistant professor (akad. Rätin) for Classical Archaeology at the University of Trier. As an archaeologist, I am fascinated by the images and objects created thousands of years ago. I study how material culture "frames" us when we look at different kinds of ancient media, and how people and objects interact, since this process shapes our human world.
I enjoy living in the oldest city of Germany, where many late Roman monuments are still visible, like the Porta Niga, the Imperial Baths, and the Basilica of Constantine I.
Nonetheless, I have a passion for travelling and I am fascinated by Southeast Asian cultures. This is one of the reasons why I wanted to realize the project "Augustus in Saigon!?" toghether with my husband Sven Günther.
It was a precious, inspiring time and I would like to thank all participants!
