Title
Colonialism
Description
Colonialism refers to the practices of dominating a native group of people by a foreign group of people for economic and political benefits. Central to colonialism is the concept of "colony". "Colony" is the land or the territory of the independent, native group of people which has been seized and settled by foreign forces. As noted by Kohn and Reddy (2006), "The term colonialism is frequently used to describe the settlement of North America, Australia, New Zealand, Algeria, and Brazil, places that were controlled by a large population of permanent European residents."
