Description

I am Prof Dr Sven Günther, one of the two course instructors of "Augustus in Saigon!?".
When I do not research and teach as provost distinguished fellow at Fulbright University Vietnam I am full professor of Classics at the Institute for the History of Ancient Civilizations (IHAC), Northeast Normal University, Changchun, China, where I am also vice-director. My research centers on Greco-Roman socio-economic history, numismatics, and reception history.
Since my study days I have always followed the Humboldtian ideal of close linkage between teaching and research. To help students and young researchers to fulfill their academic dreams is what I am constantly working for. And I am strongly committed to the idea of global(izing) Classics and Ancient Studies which is a cultural heritage of, and for, the world.
Hence, the interdisciplinary project “Augustus in Saigon!?” was born and developed together with my wife Elisabeth, and filled with content by our commilitones!
